The Importance of Medical Scrubs
Medical scrubs, or "medical uniforms," are pants that have been designed for hospitals, clinics and other medical centers for their staff members. Scrubs are actually the most sterile clothing worn by nurses, doctors, surgeons and other medical professionals involved in patient care at local hospitals. These uniforms have evolved from a simple pair of white cotton pajamas to today's complete medical uniform consisting of pants, white shirt, scrub top, leg covering known as pants leg warmers and socks. This attire has allowed medical professionals to save time in the preparation of patient care and eliminate the risk of contamination.
One reason why medical
scrubs have become so popular is because of their practicality. They are
comfortable, reliable, and easy to put on and take off because they are made
from special fabrics such as nylon and polyester. Additionally, many hospitals
feature a highly organized medical scrub pantry where surgical scrubs,
disposable medical gloves and other items can be stored. This convenient and
hygienic storage space has allowed many hospitals to streamline their
operations, saving time and money by not having to maintain an entire wardrobe
of identical or mismatched uniforms.
Another reason why medicalscrubs began to become so popular in the United States is because theseuniforms are easy to use in the operating rooms. A scrub uniform may be worn
with any number of different accessories including white shirts with black
pants or skirts and black shoes, making it easy for medical staff to look like

Medical scrubs help to make medical

administrators have determined that there are enough documentation and risk of
litigation to force employees to wear proper uniforms. Although medical scrubs
help to keep workers comfortable and reduce the likelihood of cross
contamination, it is ultimately the responsibility of the person wearing them
to ensure that they are clean and well maintained at all times. By adhering to
the rules of dress codes, hospital staff members can greatly reduce the chances
that they will violate any of the rules and remain a shining example to the
